The new Audi RS 3 officially: Attracts an even better 400-horsepower five-cylinder and driving through the door first

The four circles drop the camouflage foils from the successor to the Audi RS 3 and represent all the technical details. We have something to look forward to!

Audi is officially introducing a new, third-generation RS 3 Sportback and RS 3 Saloon (understand hatchback and sedan). “Both models are the gateway to our RS world and, with the Torque Splitter system, offer exceptional nonplusultra performance in the compact segment,” says Sebastian Grams, CEO of Audi Sport, at the presentation of the news.

The jewel of the smallest sports audi is above all supercharged five-cylinder petrol engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, which survived despite uncompromising emission limits for the new generation. It is exactly the engine that won the International Engine of the Year award nine times in a row in the given category! However, buyers will be mainly interested in the parameters: the unit has not boosted, but the highest output of 294 kW (400 hp) is more than sufficient. In addition, it is available from 5600 rpm, while the predecessor was able to reach a maximum of 5800 rpm. It has improved its torque by 20 Nm to 500 newton meters, and the twist is also available in a wide range from 2250 to 5600 rpm. Add to that a brand new engine control unit that ensures even faster connection of individual components and we get a hundred in 3.8 seconds.

The Audi RS 3 can then continue at 250 km / h, but you can optionally move the maximum speed limiter to 280 km / h. And for those who wouldn’t have enough, they will purchase a dynamic package with a maximum of 290 km / h, which also includes ceramic brakes.

The engine works exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. For the first time, the exhaust system has a completely variable damper control, which allows you to regulate the sound characteristics in an even wider range. In Dynamic and RS Performance modes, the flaps open much earlier, so there’s no risk of overhearing the Audi RS 3 on a district or a racing circuit. But if it doesn’t happen to you at all, you can enhance the acoustics with the optional RS exhaust system.
