Ethylene oxide continues to scare. It is Lidl’s turn to take a product off the shelves that could cause serious health problems for consumers.
The summer of 2021 had as its protagonist ethylene oxide. The the number of products withdrawn from the market due to the presence of the dangerous gas is high and continues to increase. Consumers have been warned of health problems related to the consumption of various items, from crackers to yoghurt, from sweets to vegetable soups. Several supermarkets have been involved and the Commission has expressed itself in favor of the withdrawal of the products also due to the presence of a minimum quantity of ethylene oxide. THE the damage it can cause is important and it is a priority to protect the health of consumers. Now it’s the turn of Lidl and a specific product that has been recalled from the sale.
What is Lidl’s ethylene oxide product
Lidl suffered a food recall in connection with the sale of a specific product. This is the Vegan Mozzarelli, a vegetable item made from rapeseed oil and almond flour. The Ministry of Health has detected the presence of ethylene oxide after various checks and has thus decided to impose the withdrawal from the shelves of the product.
The brand to watch out for is Cemondo while the manufacturer of the article is Vefo GmbH. Vegan Mozzarelli was produced in a plant in Emstek, Germany. The affected lots are those expiring on August 24, 2021, August 26, 2021 and August 27, 2021.

How the consumer should behave
Consumers should take the warning seriously as ethylene oxide is known to be dangerous. The gas, used in hospitals for the sterilization of medical and surgical aids, causes allergies with very severe reactions, it has neurotoxic and haemolytic effects and can lead to irritative manifestations. Consequently, those who have purchased the Vegan Mozzarelli must immediately proceed with the return of the product at the reference point of sale to ask for a refund.
