Giancarlo Giammetti – Valentino’s co-founder and former partner – boasts a photo album full of candid snapshots of rich and fabulous people. The latest images shared on your account Instagram pay tribute to their late friend, the actress Audrey Hepburn, who perished on January 20, 28 years ago.
In one of the images, taken at the end of Hepburn’s life, Giammetti and the actress are sitting together and relaxing in one of their houses, while in another we can see her accompanying Valentino himself to the gala of Arts Against AIDS held in 1991. She wore a Valentino dress, naturally. He died of colon cancer just two years later, in 1993.
Giammetti adds as a comment to the photos: “Dear Audrey, 29 years have passed since you left us… but your memory will always be with us, like your art, your smiles and your generosity #AudreyHepburn”.
While Hepburn was known for her close working relationship with couturier Hubert de Givenchy, she was also a huge fan of Valentino, after they were introduced while filming. Charade (1963). Later, he even commissioned Valentino to make an A-line change in his famous ‘White Collection’, as we saw with Jackie Kennedy when she married Aristotle Onassis.
