The Netzhoppers complain about the lack of consistency in their game

Bestensee – The KW-Bestensee Netzhoppers are simply not progressing in the volleyball league. “We had trouble finding our way in the game because we weren’t consistent enough in serving and receiving,” said winger Theo Timmermann, describing his side’s most glaring weaknesses at 1: 3 (22:25, 27:29, 25:22, 21:25) defeat at home to Volleys Herrsching on Friday night. But what gives the 26-year-old hope for the rest of the season: “After that we made our way into the game.”

After seven matchdays, the Netzhoppers are only seventh in the table with just one win. Only nine teams have started this season in the men’s Bundesliga.

In front of 1400 spectators at the Audi Dome in Munich, Timmermann was Brandenburg’s most successful striker with 22 points. “I’m in good shape physically right now,” he said. American Randy Deweese, who is otherwise the Netzhoppers’ most diligent point-gatherer, was less effective this time around. “Somehow the connection with our player didn’t work out for him this time,” Timmermann explained later.

After the second set, Deweese had to make way for his compatriot Raymond Barsemian, who still had 16 points. The Netzhoppers were prevented from doing better in Munich in particular by their weak serve: the stats showed them as many as 21 serve errors at the end.

For Timmermann, however, there was another decisive reason for the defeat. “I haven’t seen such a bad referee in a long time,” he lamented. With some controversial decisions in favor of the opponent, the Munich referee Mirco Till caused the visitors’ displeasure during the 114 minutes of play.
