The Austrian sports equipment retailer Hervis Sports is in financial trouble and should close its stores in the Czech Republic within six months. The chain did not withstand a pandemic, but also domestic competition.
The Austrian sports equipment retailer Hervis Sports has ceased operations on the Czech market after 20 years. He was the first to report weekly Apex. The covidu-19 pandemic is mainly to blame. In 2020, the company’s revenues fell to 460 million and the loss deepened to about one hundred million crowns.
Hervis closed its first branches some time ago, in Tábor and Cheb. The outlet in Haty also ended. Stores in Prague, Brno, České Budějovice, Zlín, Karlovy Vary and Trutnov should close by the middle of this year.
The German competitor Intersport should take over most of the stores. In addition to the Czech Republic, Hervis currently operates in Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Romania and Slovenia.
