The Netherlands will tighten travel advice for the United Kingdom to orange | NOW

The Netherlands is tightening up the advice for travel to the United Kingdom, because the British government has imposed a quarantine obligation for Dutch travelers. This is what a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs tells NU.nl.

The measure will take effect on the night from Friday to Saturday at 5:00 am. Travelers who come to the Netherlands from the UK afterwards are strongly advised to go into self-quarantine for two weeks.

British Transport Minister Grant Shapps announced on Thursday evening that a quarantine obligation will be instituted to prevent the number of infections in the United Kingdom from rising again.

Travelers from France, Monaco, Malta, Aruba and the Turks and Caicos Islands must also be quarantined from Saturday when they travel to the UK. France announced earlier on Friday morning that it would introduce similar measures for travelers from the United Kingdom.

Due to the flare-up of the corona virus in Europe, many countries recently decided to adjust their list of ‘safe countries’. Finland, among others, decided to adjust the travel advice for the Netherlands, after which the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued an orange travel advice for the Scandinavian country.
