The Netherlands takes “severe” measures against the Covid: “The virus is everywhere”

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced on Friday the reintroduction of a series of health restrictions, affecting in particular the restaurant sector, to cope with a record number of Covid-19 cases.

Mr Rutte called the new round of measures at a press conference in The Hague “big blow of a few weeks, because the virus is everywhere, all over the country, in all sectors and at all ages“.

All sporting events allowed in the Netherlands, but again without an audience

All sporting events are still allowed in the Netherlands, but they will again have to take place without an audience. This applies to professional sport as well as to amateur sport and also to training. This is what the Dutch government decided on Friday to fight the spread of the coronavirus. This measure is applicable for three weeks with almost immediate effect, from Saturday 6 p.m. until Saturday 4 December.

These measures have a direct influence on the FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture the Netherlands are due to play on Tuesday against Norway at the Kuip in Rotterdam. It will have to take place without an audience when the Dutch football federation had already sold the 44,000 tickets on sale.
