The Netherlands support Air France-KLM with 3.4 billion euros

The French-Dutch airline Air France-KLM receives further government support because of the corona crisis: In addition to the 7 billion euros of the French government, the battered airline receives an additional 3.4 billion euros from the Dutch state.

As Air France-KLM announced on Friday, the 3.4 billion euros are composed of a loan of 2.4 billion euros, for which the Dutch government is 90 percent responsible for default and a direct loan to KLM in the amount of one billion Euro.

In return, the Dutch state demands “the airline’s commitment to sustainability”, greater profitability, restructuring and a “contribution” from employees, KLM said without giving any details. In addition, KLM has committed to suspend dividend payments to shareholders until the loans are repaid.
