HOUTEN – Now that the heat wave is also approaching our country, records will probably be broken anyway. On Tuesday, the Netherlands will become a baking oven, with a predicted temperature of 40 degrees in some places. But what does it take to break an absolute temperature record and why are those measurements often so controversial? “It is bizarre that only three years ago the old record of 38.6 degrees was broken in Warnsveld that stood for 75 years, and that we are now just going over it again.”
