Friday is the hottest day of the year so far, with 32.6 degrees in Maastricht Weather online.
A tropical temperature of 28.1 degrees was also measured in the Bilt at 1 p.m., with the temperature rising considerably later in the day. It was the last time in De Bilt at the end of June. Then it was 30.1 degrees at the peak.
The temperature is expected to rise to over 30 degrees in many places in the Netherlands, with a chance of temperatures reaching 36 degrees in the south.
It also stays warm in the evening, with temperatures between 24 and 30 degrees in the evening. The mercury is not expected to dip below 22 degrees tonight.
On Saturday sweltering, temperatures drop on Sunday
After a tropical night, there will be more clouds on Saturday from which showers can fall here and there, with a local risk of thunder. It feels sweltering all Saturday and it gets between 24 degrees in the west and 32 degrees in the east.
From Sunday temperatures will drop back to around 23 degrees in the west to 26 degrees inland, with a mix of sun, cloud fields and rain.
