The world has unveiled an order from the Provincial Court of Barcelona that warns about the possible commission of crimes of “sports corruption” and “unfair administration” by FC Barcelona and its last former presidents within the framework of the Negreira case.
The order rules out new crimes against the club’s former general director, Albert Soler, but does observe evidence of the first two types of criminal offenses mentioned.
The investigation focuses on payments of almost 8 million euros carried out by Barça during the decades before the number of Spanish referees, José María Enríquez Negreira. According to the order, these payments could have the objective of “obtaining neutral arbitrations” for the club.
When he stopped earning from FC Barcelona, negreira threatened the club through two burofaxes revealed by EL MUNDO with uncovering a «“big scandal” if he said that he had been getting paid in favor of “exchanging favors and confidences” with the culé entity.
The Court endorses the investigation who directs the Court of Instruction number one of Barcelona and considers the classification presented by the Prosecutor’s Office to be appropriate.
Soon, the Court will have to decide whether, in addition to the crimes of “sports corruption” and “disloyal administration”, the current president of Barça, Joan Laporta, is also charged with bribery.
