“The Need for Continuous Corona Vaccines Despite the End of the Global Crisis: Insights from the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health”

The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Preventive Health, Dr. Abdullah Asiri, responded to some questions about the continuity of the need to receive Corona vaccines after announcing the end of the global crisis.

Asiri said toNews 24“The pandemic is over, but the virus exists and still causes respiratory infections such as influenza and others. Therefore, the need for virus vaccines continues, especially for high-risk groups, to reduce infections and deaths.

He added that the influenza vaccine is recommended by the Ministry every year for the general community, especially for the elderly, pregnant women and those with chronic diseases, and there is a continuous need for periodic doses developed according to the dominant mutant.

Asiri stressed that the dose may be annual or perhaps every two years, as this is not clear and depends on the developments of vaccines and the prevailing variants of the Corona virus.
