The need and willingness to donate for food banks is on the rise +++ Conveyor rolls over

Frankfurt. In the corruption trial against ousted Frankfurt mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD), the verdict will be announced next Friday. The district court announced the date Wednesday after the hearings concluded. Feldmann had previously rejected the prosecutor’s office charges in his last word as a defendant. “I bought nothing and I’m not corrupt”said the SPD politician.

Feldmann is accused of accepting a lead. Among other things, it is an overpaid job of his then girlfriend and later wife at the head of a newly created German-Turkish kindergarten run by Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo). On the other hand Feldmann, as a politician, behaved with kindness towards the social association, explained the Public Prosecutor’s Office in his plea agreement and a A fine was requested for a total of 31,500 euros.

Feldmann said he hoped for an acquittal. He had not unduly influenced city politics and had never thought that the Awo had sought to exert undue influence. The SPD politician said he assumed his future wife would be adequately employed by Awo.

Feldmann accused the prosecutor’s office of wanting to lead by example. He looks back on four years of constant stress and nationwide controversy in the press. Above all, the investigation would cost him his good work, said Feldmann, who was voted out of office as mayor of Frankfurt in a referendum in November. (dpa)
