Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed the need to eliminate terrorism in all its forms in Syria and to end foreign interference in it.
A spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Abu Zeid, said: “Shukri expressed, in a phone call yesterday with the United Nations Special Envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, “Egypt’s full support for the international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political settlement with Syrian ownership, in line with Security Council Resolution No. 2254. And this is in light of the great priority that Egypt attaches to restoring the security and stability of brotherly Syria, and ending all forms of terrorism and foreign interference in it.
According to Abu Zeid, the two sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination during the coming period, as the UN envoy expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s role and its continuous support for the United Nations in order to reach a solution to the crisis in Syria.
