The NBA studies rescuing the All Star Game 2021 despite the pandemic

There will be no weekend of the stars per se because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the NBA is studying holding an All Star Game of circumstances in Atlanta on March 7. After suspending and postponing the current edition, which was to be held in Indianapolis, from 2021 to 2024, the league wants to at least try to gather the best players in the competition for the weekend’s main course.

The idea is now being discussed between the leaders of the league and the NBPA, the players association. The idea is to use the planned break between March 5 and 10 to get the all-star game in the middle.

According to information released by ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, NBPA President Chris Paul is one of the main promoters of the idea.

Despite the fact that the coronavirus has already forced the suspension of 22 league games, the NBA is trying to rescue an event from its calendar that, obviously, also affects its income at the end of the year for television rights and sponsorships.
