The National Youth Interleague Archery Championship will take place at the La Gota Fría High Performance Sports Center in Valledupar, with the participation of 290 archers from the regions of Meta, Córdoba, Bolívar, Valle del Cauca, Sucre, North of Santander, Santander, Antioquia, Guainía, Cundinamarca, Risaralda, Caldas, Atlantico, La Guajira, Bogotá and Cesar, in the categories under 21, 18, and 15 and competition for archery under 28, in the categories of men and women.
These athletes are part of 20 different leagues in the country that count on the support of the Cesar Government, the Ministry of Sports, the World Archers of Colombia (Federation of Colombian Archers) and the Cesar Archery League.
The importance of the national competition, the president of the Cesar Archery League, Allys Lomes, explained that these competitions are valid for qualifying for the National Youth Games, which is why the meeting bringing together great archery talents, including Lesly Nicoll Gómez, from the regional League, who won silver and bronze medals in the meeting held in Salvador, as well as Andrés Hernández, from the Bogotá League, who comes from Paris 2024, where he performed well.
“The Federation chose Valledupar as the place, taking into account the situation, also because we as a League have shown great growth, we have national winners, four clubs, good organization and sporting progress. It is special, for the first time in the history of the Archery Championships, that there is such a large participation of national archers, exceeding 200 athletes,” said the president of the Cesar Archery League, Allys Lomes.
For her part, Lesly Nicoll Gómez Valdés, a member of the Cesar Archery League and who is also part of the Colombian Youth Team, said: “I invite you all to come to the event to support all of us who are in this competition . “We are happy to be here and the sport is a good opportunity to show this and what we know how to do.”
