The National Woman in Beheira discusses empowering youth and supporting reproductive health

The National Council for Women branch in Beheira, headed by Eng. Zakia Rashad, participated in the round table of the Association for the Improvement of the Status of Women and Children. To discuss the project of empowering youth and civil society organizations to support reproductive health and the elimination of female circumcision, and child marriage, as the project was implemented in Beheira Governorate through 4 associations.

The Champions and Heroines of Change programs also targeted 1200 children to develop their skills and culture, and to organize an entertaining sports program for them with the participation of 600 parents to encourage them to assist and support their children.

While the project included training community leaders on reproductive health issues and the harms of early marriage from a religious and health perspective, and awareness-raising sessions with the participation of endowments and health.

The discussion resulted in recommendations calling for civil society to join hands, each with its specialization, as awareness seminars are conducted through endowments, the church and rural pioneers, health and education by entering schools and educating students, and holding meetings to educate children and youth in youth centers and residents by creating new and clear statistics to limit the cases of circumcision and early marriage.
