ABU DHABI, 3 August / WAM / Our national mixed martial arts team has doubled its achievement in the World Junior Mixed Martial Arts Championship, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, at the Mubadala Arena in Madinat Zayed. the athlete.
The national team continued its victories on the second day of the championship, which is held under the umbrella of the International Federation of the Game, and hosted by the UAE Federation of Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts, until August 5, and advanced to the runner-up position after the two sisters, Ghala and Zamzam Al-Hammadi, presented two gold medals to the Emirates in the two categories (40 kg) and (52 kg), respectively.
The second day of the tournament witnessed the competitions of category “B” for the age group 14-15 years, and the players Saeed Al-Nuaimi and Salem Al-Hamoud won two silver medals in the categories (57 kg) and (77.1 kg), while the bronze medal was won by Omar Al-Raisi in the weight (57 kg). And Hamdan Al-Najjar weighs (48 kg), and Saif Al Hammadi weighs (48 kg).
Our national team had achieved 4 colored medals on the first day of the tournament in the category “C” competitions for the 12-13 year age group, with a gold, two silver and a bronze.
Fahd Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the UAE Federation of Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts, said: “Abu Dhabi’s hosting of the championship for the second time in a row reflects Abu Dhabi’s status as a global capital for martial arts sports and an ideal destination for talents seeking to shine and register their name in golden letters in the records of the championship, and the superior organizational capabilities of the Emirate that world praise.”
He expressed his happiness with the record participation in the tournament, which confirms the rapid spread of the sport of mixed martial arts in the country and around the world, praising the large crowd presence in the stands, which added a wonderful festive atmosphere to the competitions.
He explained that the UAE Federation of Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts provided, through the tournament, an ideal platform for future talents of mixed martial arts from different countries of the world to participate and contribute to the spread of the sport by showing their capabilities and skills and preparing to launch their professional career.
Al Shamsi described the performance of the national team players in the tournament as distinguished and advanced, and congratulated the two sisters, Ghala and Zamzam Al Hammadi, on their achievement.
Ghala Al-Hammadi presented the UAE with the medal, and expressed her great happiness, saying: “I am happy with the victory and honor for my country, and for excelling in all fights. I dedicate my victory to the wise leadership, my family and everyone who stood with me during the preparations for the championship.”
Her sister, Zamzam, presented the gold medal to the UAE leadership and people, and said: “It is an honor for me to represent the UAE in the world championship and raise the country’s flag on the podium. The daughter of the Emirates is characterized by will, determination and great desire to achieve achievements in all tournaments.”
The coach of the Lebanese mixed martial arts team, Khaled Afara, praised the organization of the tournament, pointing out that this distinguished hosting contributed to enriching the experience of all the participating teams at all levels. He said that the tournament is in continuous development and we witnessed a significant increase in the levels of participating players from different countries of the world.
