[Reporter Dong Baiting/Reporting from Taipei]This afternoon, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine overcame many difficulties and finally arrived at Taoyuan International Airport. It was their first visit to Taiwan. After arriving at Taoyuan Airport, the members raised the Ukrainian flag for a group photo and shouted: “We are in Taiwan.” !
Last year, due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the orchestra was forced to stop playing. Later, it finally resumed rehearsals and performances, using music to soothe people’s hearts. When the alarm sounded, the orchestra continued to play for the audience in the shelter until calm and safety were restored. This year, the Ukrainian National Symphony Orchestra will also bring this condensed strength to Taiwan to protect and promote Ukrainian music culture. It hopes that the strength it brings to the Ukrainian people under the flames of war will also leave unforgettable and beautiful music for Taiwanese music fans.

Grammy Award-nominated conductor Rodimir. Volodymyr Sirenko said: “We have rehearsed many times together for this performance, and Maxim Berezovsky, Beethoven, Sibelius, Chopin, and Rialto were specially selected for Taiwan. I hope everyone can come and listen to the repertoire of classic composers such as Schensky and Liszt.” Pianist Anthony. Antonii Baryshevskyi explained: “After experiencing the war in Ukraine and having my home destroyed, I am very touched to be able to perform in such a beautiful place like Taiwan. I am very happy especially when I see everyone’s warm welcome. !」

The conductor was even more appreciative. It was an honor to be able to collaborate with such a powerful pianist. This time, he braved the hardships and the impact of the war and traveled a long distance to Taiwan. He not only hoped to bring the firmness and courage of Ukraine, but also hoped to be able to work with him. There are more cultural exchanges in Taiwan, and everyone can hear the music from the Ukrainian National Symphony Orchestra.
The 79-member National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine is visiting Taiwan for the first time. From September 11 to September 13, it will tour in three major theaters in northern, central and southern Taiwan. To purchase tickets, please contact the Kuanhong Arts Network. (kham.com.tw)
