The National Police celebrated the day of the Guardian Angels this Friday in the municipal auditorium of Puertollano with a solemn ceremony presided over by the Mayor of Puertollano and attended by more than two hundred people, in addition to the delegate of sustainable development, the mayors of Almodóvar del Campo, Argmasilla de Calatrava and Brazatortas, councilors of the corporation and businessmen. An emotional act in which Miguel Ángel Ruiz highlighted the work of the national police in Puertollano “for being the line of defense of order, and for making our city a safer and better place to live.”
The mayor recalled the special year that the Corps is celebrating in our city on the occasion of the 200th anniversary, “because it was the year of the change of police station, because all of you as a security force already belong to the brotherhood of the Order of the Saint I vote, and because all this has meant that we always remember your figure and work for society, through the roundabout that we have built in front of the new police station.”
Ruiz, in addition to underlining the importance of the 200th anniversary of the National Police Corps, has also highlighted the “crucial” work of the person who has been the chief commissioner since February -Julián Maroto- of the Puertollan police station: “He has shown a extraordinary leadership and has adapted like any other Puertollanero.”
For his part, Chief Commissioner Julián Maroto has linked the origin and evolution of the Fuente Agria de Puertollano “singular, bubbling, tireless, with strength and determination of iron” with the 200 years of adaptation and growth since the founding of the Police national.
“Citizens of Puertollano, here you have your national police officers who will help whoever needs it, arrest the criminal and, if necessary, risk their lives in the performance of their duty,” stated Maroto. The Commissioner offered the services of the new Police Station’s offices “which are awaiting their prompt inauguration” and before cheering on the King and Spain, he concluded his speech by insisting that the National Police are “true builders of those who others started, tomorrow we will be foundations from which others will continue to build.”

The event was presided over by the Mayor of the Puertollano City Council, Mr. Miguel Ángel Ruiz Rodríguez, the Chief Commissioner, Mr. Julián Maroto Rodríguez, the Chief Inspector, Mr. Rodrigo Montero Sánchez, Head of Operations of the Puertollano Police Station, the Inspector, Mr. José Antonio Moreno. Caballero, Head of the Local Citizen Security Brigade, and Judge Laura Sotoca Contreras, head of Court of First Instance and Instruction Number 3 of Puertollano.
A solemn ceremony, which was presented by Fernando Cabañero, in which police officers Carlos Delgado Verdugo, Miguel Castellano Hidalgo and Rubén Roma González were awarded the Cross of Police Merit with a white badge. Retirees Luis Fernandez Guadaño and Gregorio López Ruiz also received a distinction.

The police officer Gracia María Silva Herrera at the piano and her brother, the baritone Mr. José Ángel Silva Herrera, entertained and closed the event, with the singing of the national anthem and the interpretation of the Romanza from the zarzuela “La Rosa del Azafrán” by Jacinto Guerrero .
