DKI Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) or the fire department (firefighter) stated National Museum remains safe even though it is currently hit by fire. The thing is, the parts that burn are only in certain parts.
“Information that the museum is safe and that the back is burned,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Service, Satriadi Gunawan detikcomSaturday (16/9/2023).
In total, there were 13 fire engines and 52 fire brigade personnel who rushed to extinguish the fire at the location.
The National Museum is located at Gambir, opposite Monas, Jl Medan Merdeka Barat. Previously, the Gulkarmat Service stated that the part that caught fire was one of the buildings in this complex.
“Building A, National Museum, Jl Medan Merdeka Barat,” said the officer command center DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Department to detikcom.
According to the National Museum website, Building A is used for exhibition space and immersive rides. Meanwhile, Building B, also known as the Arca Building, which was officially opened on June 20 2007 by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, apart from being used for exhibitions, is also used for offices, conference rooms, laboratories, temporary exhibition space, commercial areas and libraries.
The fire department said the fire occurred at 20.00 WIB at the most prominent museum in the country. Until now, officers are still trying to extinguish the fire.
