ABU DHABI, September 1st, WAM / The World Junior Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Kazakhstan witnessed the brilliance of the national team players, including the two stars, Hareb Al Hammadi and Ahmed Al Shamsi, as each of them won a gold medal in his category in this international forum.
The performance of the national jiu-jitsu team, sponsored by Mubadala Investment Company, in the tournament was widely and continuously praised, and the upcoming two champions contributed strongly to the team’s achievement in preserving the title for the fourth year in a row.
Hareb Al-Hammadi defeated Rafael Urumbayev, the Kazakh player, in the U-16 category, in the U-55 km category, after a strong final match in the first day of the tournament.
This victory gave the national team a strong impetus to defend its title, and Al-Hammadi said: “I had an exceptional experience in my first participation with the national team, especially since I won the gold medal… The final match was very difficult, as it brought me together with the world champion for last year in this category on his land and among his fans, But I won by subduing the opponent in the first minute.”
Al-Hammadi confirmed that he follows a strict training regimen, and is keen to fully adhere to his training routine, taking into account his school obligations.
He explained: “I am looking forward to developing my performance and contributing once again to achieving more glories for the homeland, and I am preparing strongly to participate in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is considered the true test of champions… I was initially practicing football, and my passion for Jiu-Jitsu began only a year and a half ago.”
Ahmed Al Shamsi defeated the Russian David Piranian in a strong fight under the weight of (42 kg), achieving his third consecutive gold medal in the world championships, and said: “Although the fight was one of the most difficult fights I ever fought, I decided it thanks to focusing on the smallest details, and watching Some video clips of the competitor before the fight.
Al Shamsi is preparing for the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, after devoting 7 months to preparing for both the World Championships and the World Professional Championships.
He added, “I fondly remember my first meeting with coach Marcio, who believed in my talent, welcomed me and guided me to become one of the best players. That moment that changed my career was in 2016.”
