The national holiday concert from ‘Big Amber’ will be available to watch live

The concert hall “Lielais dzintars” and the Cultural Information Systems Center in cooperation with HDPD Productions & Dreams will offer a national holiday concert “Latvia 102” free of charge live from Liepāja Concert Hall on Tuesday, November 17 at 19.00.

As “Delfi” informed the representatives of the concert hall, the ambitious concert with the participation of Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, conductor Ainars Rubikis and soloists will be available on the concert hall website www.lielaisdzintars.lv, on the public media portal, but live audio can be enjoyed on Latvian Radio 3 – “Klasika”.

The celebration of the 102nd anniversary of the Latvian state will be the first time that the internationally acclaimed and just awarded the highest Russian theater award “Golden Mask” in the category “Best Opera Conductor” will enter the conductor’s desk in Liepāja Concert Hall. Ainars Rubikis. The masterful conductor intends to make his debut in Liepāja Concert Hall “Lielais dzintars” by creating a particularly uplifting, solemn and patriotic program for the concert, in which Latvian folklore and national moods will be intertwined with the pearls of romanticism created by the great spirits of Latvian symphonic music.

“My very rare stay at home in Latvia played a key role in creating the program. The longer I am away from my country, the more I want to return to its roots,” says Ainārs Rubiķis, the artistic director and conductor of the concert, the musical director of the Berlin Comic Opera.

The concert will be opened by the solemn Adolf Skulte Overture, in the continuation of the program one of Latvia’s brightest and most internationally promising pianists Daumants Liepiņš will interpret the “Latvian Rhapsody” by the late master of romanticism Peter Barison. Five Latvian folk songs arranged by Jānis Mediņš will be sung by the dramatic soprano Liene Kinča, who started her career at the Latvian National Opera, but has recently performed in important foreign operas. The program also includes Mārtiņš Brauns’ ballad “Tālavas taurētājs”, but at the end of the concert – Imants Kalniņš’s suite “Rotāju, dancoju”.

The concert will be conducted by musicologist and Latvian Radio 3 “Klasika” program manager Liene Jakovļeva. In the meantime of the concert, the audience will be offered interviews with the concert conductor Ainārs Rubiķis, pianist Daumants Liepiņš and the management of the concert hall “Lielais dzintars”.

SIA “Lielais dzintars” informs that due to the restrictions set during the emergency situation, the concert will not be available to visitors in person and the paid money will be returned to the ticket holders. Buyers who have purchased tickets online will receive the money in their bank account. Visitors who have purchased tickets at the box office are invited to go to one of the “Biļešu paradīze” box offices, where the money will be returned to the buyer upon presentation of the concert ticket.
