/ world today news/ The National History Museum is to move to the building of the Center for Contemporary Art. The director of the museum institution, Bozhidar Dimitrov, quoted by BNT, suggested this again.
According to him, the current building of the museum is too far from the center of Sofia, and there is not enough space in it to display all the valuable exhibits, the scientist believes. He added that during all the years of its existence, more than 650,000 museum exhibits are now located in NIM.
Of these, NIM stores only 6,000 in its current building, or about 1% of everything it owns.
“And right now there is one building in the center of the city – such a rare chance rarely happens – this is the building of the Central Department Store, which can no longer be used by the owner as a department store, because the numerous malls, so to speak , seized the functions.
It is proper for the state to take it and provide it to the National History Museum,” says Prof. Dimitrov.
