The National Cyber Array warns: expect attacks on the Iranian Jerusalem Day

Ahead of the Iranian Jerusalem Day, which will be celebrated this Friday, April 5, the National Cyber Array warns, like every year, of an expected increase in attempts at cyber attacks. This year, against the background of the “Iron Swords” war, the hostile discourse on the Internet increased, calling for organizing to carry out cyber attacks against the Israeli Internet space. The organization anticipates that, as every year during this period, there may be an increase in attacks mainly of the type of website defacement, attacking systems such as smart homes and spreading false information.

The Iranian Jerusalem Day is held every year on the last Friday of the month of Ramadan and is characterized by demonstrations throughout Iran and the Palestinian Authority as well as anti-Israel offensive activity in cyberspace. Every year during this period, attacks are identified, often less sophisticated and of the type that is easier to carry out on a large scale, such as defacement of websites, distribution of messages containing phishing messages, hacking into social networks, intrusion into company databases and information leaks, alongside publications that boast of attacks that did not necessarily occur.

From the national cyber system’s knowledge of the attack groups active within these Days of Zion, it is identified by the attackers’ interest in accessing website management interfaces, cameras and control systems exposed to the Internet, remote connection, access to identification data on the organization’s page, weaknesses in web pages, weaknesses in free external libraries, and more.

The cyber system publishes recommendations for strengthening protection and calls on organizations to implement the relevant security updates as soon as possible. These are the recommendations for the public:
* Check for links and unidentified files in messages.
* Do not provide personal information such as passwords, code or account details.
* In case of browsing the corrupted website, do not click on any links on it and close the browser.
* Download apps only from official online stores.
* Be sure to use strong and different passwords for each account.
* Implement two-step verification on all accounts.
* Perform software updates for all devices and applications.

In case of any suspicion of a cyber incident, you can report it to the national cyber system 24/7 by dialing the toll-free abbreviated number 119.
