The National Coalition proposes to include anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian policies in the government statement

The Latvian National Union political party has several proposals for the inclusion of foreign policy missions in the government statement. Among other things, the party proposes to include in the document a pledge that Latvia will not have to reduce sanctions against Russia and Belarus, said MP Saima Rehards-Kouls.

The politician said the working group he led had been working hard over the past week. Cole acknowledged that the Foreign Policy Working Group was one of the first government statement groups to complete work on the statement’s priorities and wording.

When asked about NA’s proposals, Vice President Saima highlighted several topics, such as the continued movement towards Western values ​​in Euro-Atlantic organizations, the European Union, as well as deeper integration into NATO.

NA also stresses that efforts should be continued to increase NATO’s presence in Latvia and make the alliance a sort of regional defense umbrella.

Kol underlined that his party’s proposals also envisage forms of cooperation with the eight Nordic Baltic countries (NB8), as well as Canada, the USA and Great Britain. One proposal concerns support for Ukraine, the withdrawal of Russian forces and the recovery of Ukrainian territory within its internationally recognized borders.

Narcotics Anonymous believes that Ukraine should provide all kinds of support to Will: political, military and economic. Financial and humanitarian aid should also be provided. The party expects to start work on the consolidated revision of the government statement on Nov. 21.

According to the description of the standing parties’ responsibilities towards the ministries, the new structural unit will have seven locations: the residence of the President of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Climate and Energy, as well as the Ministry of Welfare.

The party on the unified list expects to win the presidency of the 14th Parliament, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health, as well as the Ministry of Regional Development and Digitization.

The national union will have four ministries: the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economy.

Under this plan, the coalition parties also share responsibility when it comes to drafting the various sections of the government statement.

JSC member Anders Kolbergs said in an interview with LTV that the parties have not yet reached an agreement on the division of responsibilities. At the same time, JV leader Krišjānis Kariņš and State President Egils Levits announced after the meeting that tremendous progress has been made in the past two days regarding the tasks and responsibilities of the new coalition.

He also promised to present another memorandum to the other two sides. As MP Uldis Pīlēns said, this document can be called the second note. This document will reflect the future coalition’s tasks and financial commitments for the coming years. According to him, this will help speed up the government formation process.
