The Nation / Paraguay will export beef to the United States from 2022

For this year, exports of livestock products will reach US $ 2,000 million, thus exceeding by 70% the level of shipments that was achieved last year, explained the president of the National Service for Animal Quality and Health (Senacsa) , Dr. José Carlos Martin Camperchioli. The announcement was made during a meeting called La Noche del Senacsa, organized at the institution’s stand located in the Rural Association of Paraguay (ARP) within the framework of the Livestock Expo 2021. The activity was attended by several referents of the livestock sector .

The Senacsa representative explained that exports not only include products of bovine origin, but also others such as non-traditional proteins, among other products. He added that during the first half of this year, the meat sector has experienced the most difficult moment since the pandemic began.

“We have complied with the immunization programs, the different samplings at the field level that have practically concluded as of September,” said the president of Senacsa.

The head of the veterinary service added that among the achievements made this year, the investments of more than US $ 10 million in equipment and technologies for various work sectors of the institution stand out.

He argued that the public-private association within the Paraguayan livestock sector is internationally recognized and helped to maintain normal the functioning of the meat chain and, consequently, the food chain at the national level, as well as for the 40 countries that are served. export.

As of August 2021, exports of beef, offal, products and by-products of animal origin register just over US $ 1,420 million in export value. This represented a total of 434,859 tons shipped to the various markets in Paraguay, according to Senacsa data.

The shipments registered during the past year until the month of August reached the sum of US $ 830 million in terms of export values ​​and a total of 317,018 tons from January to August 2020.

The former president of Senacsa and current head of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), Hugo Idoyaga, was honored for his achievement and work carried out in the last year.
