A new Skyscraper has just appeared in the middle of New York. After seven years of work, construction of the Steinway Tower is officially complete. With its 435 meters in height, this tower is the third tallest in the Big Apple but it is above all the narrowest in the world, reports the magazine The seas relayed by lemon squeezer.
“As New Yorkers, we are incredibly proud to add a new icon to our skyline. We had an opportunity to do something that had never been done before,” Gregg Pasquarelli, the director of architectural firm SHoP Architects, which carried out the project, told our colleagues (to discover here).
The world’s strongest concrete used for construction
Located at 111 West 57th Street, not far from Central Park and the intersection with Sixth Avenue, this skyscraper offers breathtaking views of the city. It was designed on a 24:1 ratio with a reduction in its width per level, which allowed the installation of terraces on each level where the width of the building narrows. To do this, the architects planned the use of the strongest concrete in the world.
The first occupants of the dwellings planned in this skyscraper will not be long in coming to settle there. They will be able to benefit from the visual spectacle offered by this tower, particularly on the highest floors.
