The Naolinco Free Art Workshop: Cultivating Artistic Expression in a Natural Environment

The Free Art Workshop of the Universidad Veracruzana located in Naolinco is one of the favorites for young university students to express themselves artistically due to its location in the middle of a natural environment.

The workshop is located near the Naolinco viewpoint, in the middle of gardens and trees that inspire students to the point of allowing them to discover or develop their talent.

In this semester that is about to end, the Naolinco Free Art Workshop had 180 young university students who came daily from that municipality and its surroundings, including Xalapa.

According to its director, Carmen Alejandrina Valdés García, classes are from Monday to Saturday, although most of the students come on the last day of the week because they have more free time.

What skills are developed in the Naolinco Art Workshop?

The workshop has teachers trained to impart various educational experiences, among which music therapy, art and health in your life, animation, reading, popular art, art history, dance, Mexican music, terracotta, painting and poster stand out.

Young people have a wide and varied offer to choose the one they like best, in addition to adapting to their schedules.

The students are students from different faculties of the Universidad Veracruzana who have managed to discover or exalt their artistic profile; In the arts workshop they are given the necessary tools to fully develop their artistic skills.

In addition, the workshop also opens its doors to the general public who are interested in artistic expression.

Recently, an exhibition was held at the Naolinco Free Art Workshop, where paintings, posters, engravings, wood carvings, drawings and terracotta figures stood out, among others, which were made with great dedication and patience by Young.

In addition to teaching classes, there are also festivals, such as the sustainability festival, which is scheduled for September and the Day of the Dead festival, for the end of October, with the participation of students.

Another of the recent activities consists of the elaboration of a mural on the culture of peace and non-violence in the center of Naolinco. Students also constantly participate in activities that take place at the Naolinco House of Culture.

Among its students there are men and women alike, a large part of them from the faculties of Architecture, Dentistry, Agronomy, Biology and some from Nursing, engineering and the Arts Unit.

The Naolinco Free Art Workshop will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year and its staff is currently working on programming the festivities that will take place. To enter the courses, a recovery fee of 500 pesos is required; The next semester will begin on August 21.

In addition to Naolinco, the UV has other similar workshops in Xalapa, Coatepec, Veracruz, Poza Rica, Tuxpan, Córdoba and Coatzacoalcos.
