THE NAME OF THE ROSE 1986
It all begins one beautiful morning at the end of November in the year of the Lord 1327 when Fray Guillermo de Baskerville (Sean Connery), a Franciscan monk and former inquisitor, and his inseparable disciple, the novice Adso de Melk (Christian Slater), who is the one who relates the history, they go to a Benedictine abbey located in the north of the Italian peninsula to try to clarify the death of the young miniaturist Adelmo da Otranto. During their stay in the abbey, more monks mysteriously disappear and are soon found dead. Slowly, and thanks to the information provided by some monks, Guillermo is clarifying the facts. The motive for the crimes seems to be some ancient treatises on the legality of laughter that are found in the complex’s library, which is said to be the largest in the Christian world. Who is the murderer? What did their victims to be murdered? Nobody knows…
