The Nagekeo District Government emphasizes environmental cleanliness and PHBS to prevent dengue

Nusantaratv.com – The Government of Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara emphasizes the importance of residents to improve environmental sanitation and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) to prevent the transmission of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the district.

“There have been 53 cases so far. So the environment and behavior need to be strengthened to suppress dengue,” Nagekeo District Health Bureau Chief Drg Emerentiana Reni Wahjunigsih said on Wednesday when contacted by Labuan Bajo.

In this rainy season, environmental cleanliness is one of the factors that can potentially cause the spread of dengue disease. Communities must behave in ways that reflect clean and healthy living in order to avoid various infectious diseases, one of which is DHF.

Emerentiana said the local government has been carrying out awareness and education activities related to dengue prevention, home visits and culling.

The Nagekeo District Health Office has appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean with 3M Plus stair treads.

“The point is to control a healthy environment. Cleaning must continue to be done to break the chain of mosquitoes. If it is not cleaned, there will certainly be cases,” he said.

Keep encouraging people to maintain quality health. The community recommended 3M Plus movement includes emptying water containers such as bathtubs, jars, buckets, flower pots and other water reservoirs at least once a week.

In addition, residents must seal the water tank tightly so that the Aedes aegypti mosquito does not enter, lay eggs and reproduce, as well as bury and destroy all used items that can collect rainwater.

“If you have good behavior, the environment is kept clean, you will be healthy,” Emerentiana said.

Nagekeo District Health Office has been carrying out DHF vector control activities consisting of epidemiological investigations by health workers and larvacide/cull, as well as actively conducting counseling and fogging of attention in case of death cases.

“There was a death case last September,” he said.
