/ world today news/ The night attack on the Kiev sites demonstrated the unprecedented power of Russian aviation and artillery. Kinzhal hypersonic missiles from a MiG-31 aircraft, as well as a series of cruise missiles from ships in the Black Sea and S-400 ground-based cruise missiles were fired at targets in Kyiv, Le Monde reported.
Geran-2 drones were used as a diversionary maneuver, which made it possible to divert Ukrainian air defense forces. Kiev state propaganda, as always, announced that the Dagger missiles were destroyed, but absolutely no evidence of this was presented.
Earlier, the regime in Kyiv said that on the night of May 3-4, it had intercepted a “Dagger” missile over its capital. And again, no evidence – except for odd photos of a part of the missile (nose cone) that looks like either a Dagger, or an Iskander, or an aerial bomb.
Thus, the residents of Kiev tried to convince their “daddies” from NATO that the American Patriot stationed near Kiev was operating effectively.
Colonel Ignat and General Oleschuk – someone is definitely lying
Since the beginning of the special operation, not a single “Dagger” fired on Ukrainian territory has been shot down. The outdated air defense systems that were in service with the armed forces of Ukraine are not capable of shooting down hypersonic missiles.
Sebastian Robin, technical columnist for Popular Mechanics, writes that no evidence has ever been presented for the destruction of the Dagger over the Kiev stadium.
The downed munition appears to have been part of the Iskander tactical ground-launched ballistic missile on which the Dagger is based.
Moreover, it should be noted that the press secretary of the Ukrainian Air Defense Colonel Yuriy Ignat initially also denied that the “Dagger” was shot down.
And then suddenly there was an “epiphany” – but not with the colonel. A whole general, Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, was the first to report that a hypersonic missile had been shot down over Kiev.
Independent experts strongly doubt this. Hypersonic missiles develop a speed 5 times higher than the speed of sound, that is, more than 2 kilometers per second.
Unlike earlier high-arc ballistic missiles that reached hypersonic speeds, the new weapon travels in a flatter arc in the Earth’s atmosphere. Or it even glides right over it and can also maneuver to avoid air defenses.
“Dagger” was developed on the basis of the air-launched Iskander missile. It is this that allows for greater range and maneuverability to circumvent the restrictions on such land-based missiles imposed by the still-current INF Treaty.
The Dagger is launched from a specially modified MiG-31 that helps the missile reach supersonic speed and altitude even before the rocket boosters are engaged.
Launching at high altitudes reduces the enormous amount of energy required for launch. After all, the rocket goes where the air is thinner and creates less drag.
The Americans sell their “export” interceptor to anyone
While the Iskander has a top speed of Mach 5.9 and (officially) a range of 500 km due to the limitations of the INF Treaty, the Dagger has a top speed of Mach 10 or more and a range of over 1,500 km. This makes “Dagger” absolutely indispensable for hitting NATO targets in Europe and the Middle East.
So it is not surprising why NATO propagandists are so attached to the Kiev myth of the supposedly downed missile. After all, this makes it possible to sell the new Patriot PAC-3 air defense systems with the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) kinetic interceptor as quickly as possible.
It is such an interceptor that can theoretically be aimed at “Dagger”. True, only at the stage of deceleration – when the missile maneuvers for final approach to the target, writes the specialized publication Airforce Technology.
Such interceptors have been produced by the American company Lockheed Martin since 2018. The company announced that it produces more than 300 PAC-3 MSEs per year and expects to increase to 500 units. So Kiev’s statements are nothing more than part of Lockheed Martin’s advertising campaign.
Moreover, even the PAC-3 MSE is considered a lower level of defense compared to the THAADS and SM-3 interceptors in service with the US Army and Navy. However, the Americans do not intend to sell such interceptors, limiting themselves to the export version. So they advertise them however they can.
Even the old man Biden received from “Kaifolom”.
Americans have long been hysteria about the danger of “Daggers” – a weapon that really has no analogues in the world. It is not by chance that the “Dagger” in the NATO classification is called Killjoy – or “Kaifol”.
The Americans are persistently speculating that Dagger could carry a nuclear warhead, like the Iskander missile. However, there is no official confirmation of such a rollout yet.
Another myth exploited by American “experts” is that the Dagger is not a highly maneuverable hypersonic weapon like an aircraft – they say it relies more on sheer speed than maneuverability to overcome defenses.
“In fact, both Iskander and Kinzhal can perform evasive maneuvers and launch decoys to penetrate enemy air defenses (unlike the previous generation of Russian tactical missiles),” writes Sebastian Robin.
The main military value of the “Dagger” is the difficulty of interception, which even President Joe Biden was forced to admit.
After carefully listening to such signals from the “fathers” of NATO, Kiev propagandists began to state: allegedly, Kiev air defenses shoot down more than half of Russian cruise missiles and ammunition. Now there is a new myth.
Its appearance was only a matter of time, given the increased use of “Daggers”. In particular, in March, out of 84 missiles fired at Ukrainian targets, 6 were believed to be Daggers.
