The Myth of Balding Men and Higher Sex Drive: Debunking the Relationship Between Hair Loss and Libido

There is a myth that balding men have a higher sex drive, but research shows that there is no relationship between baldness and sexual activity.

Virility is closely related to many other aspects, such as sexual health, reproductive ability and vitality. Although it is influenced by both biological and psychological and lifestyle factors it is important to point out that there is no scientific evidence to support a direct cause between hair loss and libido.

According to the American Hair Loss Association, approximately 85% of men are affected by hair loss once they reach the age of 50.

Hair loss can be genetic as well as due to stress and diet or caused by illness or sudden weight loss. A study published in Medical Journal of Australia highlights the virility of balding men. The study found no link between baldness and ejaculation frequency. Furthermore, bald participants were found to have had no more than four sexual partners in their lifetime.

Despite the findings during the study, another survey found that over a third of men aged 18-20 who were too sexually active had an increased risk of balding. The survey also found that balding men were more sexually active and virile compared to those who had full head of hair.
