According to the BBC, dermatologists dispel a myth. They are of the opinion that there is NO such thing as a healthy tan. On the contrary, exposure to the sun requires a considerable effort for our body.
There is no such thing as a healthy tan, dermatologists warn
We are all exposed to danger in one way or another, however people with very fair skin are most affected, research shows. In their case, a sunburn can occur even 15 minutes after exposure to the sun’s rays without SPF protection. The burn heals only on the surface, dermatologists warn. In severe cases, MELANOMA occurs.
That is why periodic (annual) control to check possible changes in moles or the appearance of new lesions is mandatory.

“There is no way to get a healthy tan from sun exposure,” says Dr Rachel Abbott, consultant dermatologist at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
She also pointed out that while sun exposure is necessary to get vitamin D, which helps keep bones strong, that doesn’t mean people need to sit outside in the sun for hours.
“In the UK, between April and September, it takes about 15 minutes to 30 minutes to produce adequate amounts of vitamin D,” Dr Rachel Abbott added.
Sun protection should be used throughout the year, regardless of the season
The doctor also pointed out important things, for example: creams with a high protection factor must be used regardless of the season because the skin is the largest organ and is always exposed to the external environment.
Quick reminder! In summer, sun exposure should be avoided between 11:00 and 16:00. Burns can occur even on cloudy days.
