GIANYAR, KOMPAS.TV – The incident of thousands of sparrows falling and dying in Gianyar, Bali and Cirebon, West Java caused a public commotion. Laboratory tests were carried out to unravel the mystery of the sparrow’s mass death.
The Denpasar Veterinary Center (BBVet) has submitted the results of the laboratory test to the Gianyar Regency Animal Health and Livestock Service.
BBVet Denpasar conducted an examination using the hispathological test method on fallen sparrow carcasses.

The results of the laboratory test showed that the sparrows that died en masse in Gianyar did not contract the disease.
“The death of the birds did not lead to infectious diseases,” said Head of the Animal Health Division of the Gianyar Regency Agriculture and Livestock Service, Made Santiarka, Friday (17/9/2021).
Santiarka explained, infectious diseases can be caused by micro-organisms in the form of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.
Meanwhile, laboratory examinations showed that thousands of birds did not die due to attack by bacteria, viruses and parasites.
“This means that the death was not caused by microorganisms,” said Santiarka.
