Over the years, archaeologists have discovered a unique phenomenon in the cemetery Europe medieval. Lots tomb there that was dismantled again, for whatever reason.
At first, many archaeologists thought of this phenomenon as the act of a thief tomb. However, recent research says otherwise.
“They [para penggali makam] make a careful selection of what items they should take,” said Alison Klevnas, an archaeologist at Stockholm University, in the official announcement. “Usually they take brooches from women and swords from men, but these diggers don’t take valuables like gold and silver pendants,” he continued. Klevnas also noticed that the items taken were usually perishable, indicating that the items were not for sale or reuse.
Klevnas led a group of archaeologists who carried out five separate studies, which were carried out in graves scattered from England to Romania. The results of the research were then compiled into a scientific journal published in Antiquity.
