The mystery of Sharon Verzeni’s death, the knives found in the area are being examined by the Parma RIS

Did the person who killed Sharon Verzeni leave his DNA on the victim? That’s what investigators are hoping for, as they’ve been investigating for almost two weeks now to shed light on a murder that took place in the middle of a street, ten minutes before 1 a.m. between Monday and Tuesday last week, but which was nevertheless quite complex to solve due to the lack of witnesses and the fact that, after stabbing the 33-year-old barmaid four times, the killer seems to have vanished into thin air.

Perhaps he passed through some private properties: but did he do it on purpose, to avoid video surveillance, or by pure chance? And, again: did the person who killed Sharon Verzeni want to hit her, or did he act randomly? In the Bergamo town – eight thousand inhabitants – there are some public order problems, but these are drug dealing and petty crime, situations therefore far from a fatal stabbing in the middle of the street. Yesterday, the Bergamo police commissioner Andrea Valentino also visited the mayor Gianluca Sala, but it seems only to convey his closeness to the mayor for what the town is experiencing and not – at least according to what has leaked out – to plan targeted interventions to counter, at night, the possible presence of an unbalanced person. Furthermore, the investigations carried out so far on about one hundred hours of footage from about fifty cameras placed not only in Terno d’Isola, but also in the surrounding towns, have not provided useful elements for the investigation: about ten people were filmed before and after the time of the crime, who would not necessarily have crossed paths with Sharon on her usual evening walk and who have evidently not provided useful elements for tracing the killer. The 33-year-old’s private life has been thoroughly investigated by the Carabinieri of Bergamo and Zogno and their colleagues from the ROS, while the scientific analyses of the samples taken during the autopsy and the clothes the victim was wearing when she was hit, as well as some knives found in the area of ​​the attack – via Castegnate in Terno d’Isola – are being examined by the military of the RIS of Parma. The hope is that the killer left a trace of his DNA somewhere and that he is already registered. The results, however, have not yet arrived in Bergamo. Even the analysis of the cell phones of Sharon and her partner Sergio Ruocco – who was at home and asleep at the time of the crime, as verified by the investigators – did not reveal anything particular about the life of the woman, who had been working as a barmaid in Brembate for a year. Also complex is the analysis of the cell phones connected to the numerous ‘telephone cells’ present in the crime area: obviously, there are thousands of users, given that it is a densely populated area. Last but not least, some searches: those of two garages inhabited by homeless people. However, this front also did not lead to anything concrete for the investigation. (ANSA).
