Study trying to solve the mystery of the case DB Cooper, the man who hijacked the plane then plunged by parachute and disappeared without a trace. Because, even though it happened a long time ago, on November 24, 1971, no one has been able to find out who the mysterious man is.
The man bought a one-way plane ticket from Portland to Seattle in the name of ‘Dan Cooper’. While sitting on the plane seat, the man then ordered bourbon and soda. After that, he slipped a note to the flight attendant on duty, his name was Schaffner.
“Miss, you should look at the note. I have a bomb,” said the man who was later called DB Cooper (because of a journalist’s typo).

“I want $200,000 until 5 PM. Cash. Pack a backpack. I want two rear parachutes and two front parachutes. When we land, I want a fuel truck ready to refuel. Nothing funny or I’ll do that.” (detonating bombs),” he threatened.
Schaffner quickly informed the pilot of the situation. Because DB Cooper felt very convincing, they complied with his request.
After the plane landed, the Boeing 727 took off once again with Cooper and four cabin crew, bound for Mexico.
As the crew sat in the cockpit, they noticed a change in air pressure. Most likely, DB Cooper had already jumped in with the parachute he requested earlier.
Who is DB Cooper?
DB Cooper left the tie on the plane, so observations of the tie were repeated to solve the mystery. One of them was in 2011, where a team of scientists and criminologists managed to find evidence using an electron microscope. Likely, DB Cooper is a disgruntled former employee of Boeing. Why?
“One of the most prominent particles we found, which excited us the most, was metallic titanium,” explained lead scientist Tom Kaye at the time. Titanium was much rarer in the 1970s, but was used in Boeing’s Super Sonic Transport project, one of the first passenger planes to use metal.
“In 1971 there was a big upheaval in the titanium industry with the cancellation of the SST project, which happened to be at Boeing, and it caused many people in the industry to be laid off. It could be that Cooper was part of the layoffs,” he continued.
Because he was wearing a tie, the research team thought he was an engineer or manager who was active in the field.
Even so, mystery who is DB Cooper still ongoing. There is no evidence that can directly point to someone that he is the mysterious man who jumped from the plane without a trace. Thus launched IFLScience, Wednesday (3/8/2022).
