It is not only Norway that has a striker in international top class.
This season, Mitrovic scored an incredible 43 goals in 44 games in the English championship series for Fulham. That’s a record.
For Serbia, he recently took the record as the highest scorer on the national team nokosinne, and for example, he has scored an impressive 44 goals in 70 international matches.
– Is so proud of him
Opposite NRK, Serbia’s captain Dusan Tadic is full of praise for his teammate.
– We have played together for a long time, he is a fantastic person and plays. He has scored so many goals for us, he is the most scoring for the country, and I am so proud of him. I hope he now finds a top club, he deserves it, says Tadic to NRK.

It is a little mystery that a tip of this caliber still plays for a, relatively speaking, small club.
Mitrovic was this season a strong contributor to Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League, and it is speculated that he will disappear to a bigger club this summer, even though his contract does not expire until the summer of 2026.
– Shows how much he appreciates
Aleksandar Stojanović is full of admiration for the striker. He works as a sports journalist for the Serbian broadcaster RTS and has followed the national team closely since 2008.
He thinks Mitrovic has been given a very special position by the Serbian people.
– What shows how much he is valued, is perhaps the fact that no one blamed him after missing the decisive penalty in the European Championship playoffs against Scotland last. He responded by scoring the winning goal at the last minute against Portugal in Lisbon when we went to the World Cup. He is a great person, a true professional. I really mean that, he says to NRK.
– Start crying
In November, Mitrovic was the match winner in the 90th minute of the away match against Portugal in the World Cup qualifiers, a goal that made Serbia qualify for the World Cup.
– What makes him stand out is his goal statistics for the national team. It’s just amazing. After breaking the record, he began to cry, Stojanović said.
– A national hero
Mílos Saranovic, who is a football commentator for B92, thinks the Serbian striker has more to offer than just goals.
– He’s a very special guy. I’m sure all players try to do their best in every game, but he is a type who does not have a reserve tank, he gives 100 percent every minute of every game. He was also recently the top scorer in Serbian national team history, and he looks hungry against every single opponent and a quarter of a minute, says Saranovic to NRK.
He supports his colleague in that Mitrovic has moved to a very special place in the heart of the Serbian people.
– He makes all these qualities a symbol of the national team and a national hero. The goal he scored away against Portugal in the last minutes of the match in November, is one of the most important goals in recent decades, and even before that blink of an eye he was very popular. So he was only bigger that night, says the Serbian commentator.

NRK expert takes care of
NRK expert Carl-Erik Torp warns against Norway meeting a Mitrovic who is in great shape.
– He must be careful, because now he has the self-confidence that a striker needs. He was more unstable in the Premier League, but now it has come loose again, and he has probably never scored more than now. He will be important for the Norwegian stoppers to handle, says Torp.
