Almost everyone knows the story of the bloody Hungarian countess – Alžběta Báthoryová was supposed to brutally torture 650 young girls in her Čachtky castle. According to some legends, she was even supposed to bathe in their blood or even drink it. After almost four centuries, however, it is difficult to separate historical evidence from popular rumours. Today, some even claim that Báthory was completely innocent.
