These emotional words were written by Raina Balabanova, the wife of Prof. Nikola Balabanov, who disappeared in September 2022 in Plovdiv, writes glasnews.
It is understood from her words that there is no progress in revealing what happened to the missing Plovdiv resident. Balabanova also shared the last photo she has of her husband. By revealing that he spoke of many more years of life and was loving and devoted to his loved ones.
“The fatal end eclipsed a lifetime dedicated to knowledge, science, history, because now everyone seems afraid to mention the name and it sinks into oblivion, except in the hearts of the family,” she wrote.
The woman also commented on the pain that remained from the disappearance of the Plovdiv resident.
“In the morning I wake up regretting that I didn’t sleep forever, but I grit my teeth and pray for my children and grandchildren: that they are healthy, that they have a lighter and calmer life, that they are happy, and that I don’t cause them any worries.” writes Balabanova.

85-year-old Nikola Petkov Balabanov was last seen on September 18. He was rector of Plovdiv University in the 1990s. His last known location was his home on East Blvd.
On the day of his disappearance, he was wearing beige pants, a red long-sleeved shirt and a green jacket, the Ministry of the Interior reported at the time. Balabanov is 173 cm tall, with a thin build, blue eyes, white hair.
He had identification documents with him.
