The Musika Música Festival dedicates its 20th edition to Vienna

Bilbao is transported to the capital of Austria and becomes once again “the European capital of music and a sample of what a city that experiences music like Vienna feels, a city honored in this edition”, he points out Juan Mari Aburto, mayor of Bilbao.

The 20th edition of the festival will be held between March 5 and 7 following in the footsteps of the previous edition, which recalled four historical moments in Paris, thus closing the cycle dedicated to cities which started in 2019 in London and New York. As a novelty, the program opens to other spaces in Bilbao, with concerts in the auditoriums of Azkuna Center, on the Philharmonic Society of Bilbao and in Bilbao Hall UPV / EHU.

The Bilbao Symphony Orchestra will open the festival on Friday 5th at the Basque Palace and will perform, together with the soprano Look at Urbieta-Vega, the mezzo-soprano Ainhoa ​​Zubillaga, the tenor Mikeldi Atxandalanbaso and the baritone Jose Antonio Lopez, the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven.

On Saturday, the Philharmonic Society will receive the European orchestra The Dissonances, which will offer the Comprehensive Mozart Violin Concertos under the baton of David Grimal, also a violinist. This day, The VibrArt Trio and the pianist Juan Pérez Floristán will make their debut at the festival.

On Sunday, the festival closes, the performances of the orchestra stand out Bilbao Sinfonietta with the teacher Iker Sanchez Next to the Bilbao Choral Society and the soprano Vanesa Goikoetxea, the mezzo-soprano Maite Maruri, the tenor David Alegret and the baritone Christopher Robertson, who will interpret the Requiem K 626 of Mozart; and the Euskadi Symphony Orchestra directed by the teacher Semyon Bychkov, that with the soprano Serena saenz as a soloist, who will offer the Fourth Symphony of Mahler.
