Jacky Yitzhak Elkayam was born in Morocco and when he was three years old immigrated to Israel with his family and grew up in Be’er Sheva. In the early 1970s Elkayam launched his debut album named after him and included ten songs in English that Alkayam wrote, composed and performed, one of the songs on the album – I’ve Got To Love Again which was produced by Shlomo Gronich starred in the charts on the radio stations in those days and marked Elkayam as the answer The Israeli for the soloist of the band “Son of Aphrodite” Demis Roussos, both due to the color of his voice, his musical style and his bearded appearance.
Even before its publication, Elkayam met with the Jewish singer Enrico Macias during his visit to Israel, Macias was impressed by Elkayam’s musical style, and even offered him two songs that he wrote and composed. A year later, Elkayam appeared alongside Jose Feliciano who visited Israel and held a series of concerts.
At a later stage, Elakim went through a process of repentance and so did his musical works, with the exception of the anthem for the Maccabi Tel Aviv football team, which became songs and sounds in the worlds of faith. And he basically disappeared off the wide local pop map. Elkayam moved to live in Kiryat Gat.
Six months ago, Jacky brought up Alkaim on the YouTube channel His instrumental acoustic versions of songs from that debut album.
As mentioned Elkayam passed away and he is 70 years old.
