Not only has the pandemic ravaged Ñuble, but also some signs of hope on an artistic level. Many musicians have achieved the impossible during this time of confinement and one of those cases is that of Jottah Dread, a chillanejo musician who during these months managed to boost his career in the midst of a pandemic. A few weeks ago, he released his first album entitled “Parley”, a record that is now available on all digital platforms and contains ten songs that speak of the internal struggle of the human being, and also of the social struggle with a positive message .
These days, Jottah Dread is promoting the album and carrying out other dissemination activities such as his participation in the 26th International Theater Meeting for Chillán, Entepach, where he had the opportunity to exhibit one of his video clips in the opening frame of one of the the days.
Regarding his history, Jottah says that since childhood he felt a strong attraction for music. Already in 2013 he had written several compositions and recorded several demos.
When do you realize that music is the way you want to go?
When I went to study Sound in Concepción. There, with my fellow students we started a musical project together, which ended once we finished our studies. I returned to Chillán and began to work, and although I continued to write, I did not record or show compositions for a long time.
At what point do you decide to resume?
At the beginning of 2020, facing the current pandemic plane, I decided to gather my material, assemble a team and work on what would be my recently released studio album entitled “Parley”. In this album is present in musical composition Tony Mella, member of the renowned national reggae band “Vibración Eleva”; and Alexis Droguett, belonging to the successful Ñuble band “Ojos de Luna”.

Effectively. There is also Néstor Gutiérrez who was in charge of carrying out the illustration of the front and back cover together with Fabián Rubilar, who worked on the complete graphic design of this project, in addition to the photographic work, in the audiovisual area we can see an excellent production by part of Giovanni Valente, with whom we carried out the recording of two video clips of iconic songs from the album, such as “Avanza” and “Parley”, both available on my YouTube channel, thus forming a multidisciplinary team.
Can you preview something from “Parley”?
The album “Parley” is made up of 10 songs, in which the constant internal struggle of the human being is reflected, as well as social criticism, but at the same time delivering a positive message. There are also collaborations with artists such as “Miserable”, by Coronel, and “Cayman”, a chillanejo urban artist. It contains songs written during 2020, with the exception of “Avanza” written in 2017 but not recorded until now.

Any project for the year that begins?
Currently I am embarking on a new project, of which I hope to be able to present a preview during this 2021. It is my second studio album.
