The Music Man’s cover postponed to 2021 in New York

The revival of the musical The Music Man in New York has been postponed to 2021.

The show, which was originally scheduled to raise the curtain on September 9, 2020, should finally see the light of day on December 20, 2021. The show had already been postponed a first time.

This new production has made a lot of talk, because it is the famous actor Hugh Jackman who will play the title role of Harold Hill. Harold Hill is a con artist who masquerades as a conductor. He manages to convince all the inhabitants of a small village in the American Midwest that he is going to start an orchestra with their children. The problem is that Harold Hill is not a musician and wants to leave town without honoring the courses for which he was paid.

Hugh Jackman will be accompanied on stage by Sutton Foster (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes, Shrek The Musical, Young Frankenstein) as Marian Paroo. Jefferson Mays will be Mayor Shinn, Jayne Houdyshell will play Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn. Shuler Hensley (Young Frankenstein) will play Marcellus Washburn and Marie Mullen will be Mrs. Paroo.

The libretto, music and lyrics by The Music Man are by Meredith Willson. Created in 1957, the show won five Tony Awards in 1958.
