After celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2022, the MuséoParc Alésia returns more reinvigorated than ever from its winter break, ready for a 2023 season full of projects. We take stock with the new director of the premises, Laurent Bourdereau.
A brand new face for brand new projects. THE MuséoParc Alesia could hardly dream of a better profile for its reopening this February 15. Newly appointed general manager of the site, Laurent Bourdereau is familiar with issues of tourism, heritage and attractiveness; another knowledge, and not the least, that of the territory of Côte-d’Or, in which he was born and studied. This Tuesday, February 14, when he took office, the man was already looking ahead to a 2023 season that he imagines “ audacious »« surprising » et « ambitious ».
« The satisfaction of visitors motivates us to continue this wealth of activities, combining fun activities, scientific workshops, multicultural encounters, which prove how necessary it is to constantly reinvent new means to help share knowledge of Gallo civilization. -Roman for all audiences. The MuséoParc Alésia is a project on three sites that brings our history to life and brings educational values to the youngest. All these proposals testify to the fact of wanting to make history accessible”.
“Nearly 85,000 visitors came to the MuséoParc in 2022”
More than ever, the reopening of this 2023 season is intended to be in close collaboration with the department. Francois Sauvadet, President of the Departmental Council of the Côte-d’Or, congratulated the MuséoParc for its ever-increasing dynamism. ” We are all the more enthusiastic that site traffic has started to rise again in 2022, after two incomplete and difficult seasons due to the health crisis: nearly 85,000 visitors came to the MuséoParc in 2022, the best figure in the last 6 years! We are committed to continuing on this path and maintaining this high level of services to continue to appeal to all audiences, from the youngest to the oldest. We are fortunate to have a major establishment in a rural setting. It is an exceptional environment that we must continue to develop”.
What’s new for this 2023 season
With its new scenography set up since July 2021, its rich event program, its many activities, its more than 600 collector’s items… The MuséoParc brings together all the ingredients to arouse the curiosity and enthusiasm of visitors. The main objective of the site? Sweep away the many misconceptions still persisting about the Gallo-Roman period.
Once again this year, the MuséoParc Alésia is looking to the future with the realization of numerous projects. In 2023, visitors to the Gallo-Roman city will be welcomed in a Reception pavilion of refurbished Gallo-Roman remains from 1 March to enable them to begin their visit to the best conditions. In April, the restaurant « Le Carnyx » will also unveil its new assets to welcome visitors at any time in a much warmer atmosphere.
Adaptation to ecological challenges
The year will also be an opportunity for the MuséoParc Alésia to adapt to ecological issues today: a third of the vehicle fleet will switch from diesel to electric; the implementation of the sustainable mobility package will help employees to decarbonize their visit to the MuséoParc Alésia; a rehabilitated car park; a fleet of bicycles with electric assistance. Local products will gradually find a prominent place in the Carnyx menus and a compost for bio-waste will be installed in cooperation with the County Council.
