The murderer’s cottage, the face in the gable of the church and the crack in the rock arouse fear

A very famous mysterious place in the Klatovy region is the cemetery with the church of St. Mary Magdalene in Velhartice. An unknown face still appears on the gable of the church. There are several theories about it. Some claim to be a castle lady, tragically deceased not far from here. Others claim that the face belongs to a girl who still loved her lover, even though he was already dead. “A story has been told here since time immemorial, perhaps since the time of Great Moravia, or since the time of the first Slavic settlement, when our ancestors tried to revive a dead man in the local pagan burial ground. For what reason, we do not know, the place is in the corner of the current cemetery. Karel Jaromír Erben was inspired by this mysterious story and inserted the horror ballad Wedding Shirt into his Bouquet. The plot is well known. One sweetheart longed for her sweetheart, who had been abroad for a long time abroad, and blasphemed in prayer to the Virgin Mary. One night her wish was granted, and her beloved came to her and asked her to go with him to marry her. She didn’t know he was dead, so she went. Only along the way did she know who she was going with. She ran away from him in the cemetery and hid in the morgue. After a crazy night full of horror, she was finally saved by true prayer, “reminded the legend Ivan Rubáš, who is interested in the history of the Klatovy region.

But there is one more distressing thing. In the side entrance on the floor is an ancient stone cross embedded in the tiles. It is a monument to the original burnt wooden church, of which only this paving remains. Inside the church, women and children once hid from enemies. When they found out, they set the whole church on fire and innocent villagers burned there. The horror, screaming and crying that are recorded in these places are still perceived by sensitive individuals.

A FAIRY TALE U ČACHROVA

One of the most famous places in the Klatovy region, where people experience strange feelings or inexplicable things happen to them, is Pohádka, solitude near Čachrov. “Two hundred years ago, an old woman who knew knowledge of natural healing lived near Pohádky. At that time, two thirds of Čachrov burned down and people were looking for the culprit. They found him in the person of the old woman, whom they called an evil witch. A fanatical crowd of villagers killed and stoned the old woman. Before she died, she cursed the locals and the loneliness. No one lasted here long. Various inexplicable things happened here, and overall the people who lived alone were not very lucky. The last inhabitants, the Pangerl family, were displaced after the war, “said Rubáš.

The very last inhabitant of the Fairy Tale was a mass murderer Ivan Roubal in 1991, who allegedly wanted to farm there privately. Shortly after arriving in Šumava, he began murder. He was arrested in 1994 and convicted in 2000 of five brutal murders. However, police also suspected him of several other murders, such as the killing of his business partner František Heppner and his girlfriend. It is said in the region that Vietnamese pigs were supposed to eat them, but it was not possible to prove it.

Visiting this place attracts many adventurers.

BOLFÁNEK U CHUDENIC

The much-visited Bolfánek lookout tower near Chudenice also has its mysterious story. It is a modified lookout tower from the abolished church of St. Wolfgang. “When this bishop of Regensburg was returning from Prague, where he was at the ordination of Bishop Dětmar, he spent the night here. When he woke up in the morning and saw a lovely region around him, he decided to build a shrine here. But what they built in the day was destroyed in the morning. This was repeated for several days. So he stayed up at night, and after midnight the devil appeared. Wolfgang was not afraid of him and promised him that if he had the church completed, he could marry the soul of the first living creature to enter the church. When the tabernacle arrived, the door opened and the devil and Wolfgang waited nearby. A curious wolf was the first to run inside. The deceived devil roared so terribly that the rock broke and disappeared with thunder, “said the legend Rubáš.

To this day, a fissure can be seen, which is said to lead to hell. It is said that when the fissure is so large that a pregnant woman passes through it, the world will be over.
