The slain shepherd in the village of Anton was well known to the police. Before moving to work for the two major tenants accused of the brutal murder, Ivan Doganov lived in Koprivshtitsa. The young shepherd was also in prison for violating the imposed probation, BNT reports.
The murdered shepherd Ivan Doganov turned out to be well known in Koprivshtitsa as well, says the secretary of the municipality Nikolay Karagiozov. The young man worked on a local farm and often worked with the police.
“Yes, it can be summarized as hooliganism. Breaking a refrigerated display case, for example, to take cigarettes and alcohol. Documents from cars, cassette players. In general, such stories,” Nikolay Karagiozov, secretary of Koprivshtitsa municipality, told national television.
Apart from being the secretary of the municipality, Nikolay Karagiozov is also a member of the probation council in Pirdop and is responsible for the implementation of the measures imposed on the persons on probation.
He said the slain shepherd had been convicted several times of theft. Ivan Doganov spent several months in prison for non-compliance with probation measures. In one of the thefts in Koprivshtitsa he took an accomplice as a minor shepherd, with whom he worked together on a local farm.
Under his influence, he was involved in the story of breaking a refrigerated display case, but there are convictions for both, said Nikolay Karagiozov, secretary of the Koprivshtitsa municipality.
Despite the petty thefts, locals say there have never been any serious problems with the young shepherd.
The blackened family of the slain shepherd also lives in Koprivshtitsa. Ivan’s brother says that before the brutal beating, he did not share any threats from the Petrovi brothers, accused of the heinous crime.
According to the prosecution, the main motive for the murder was the theft of animals worth about BGN 50,000. The two Petrovi brothers, who are major tenants in the region, remain in custody after the court imposed the most severe measure of restraint, namely “detention “.
