Just before 12 o’clock on Monday 21 March, a man trooped up to the police station at Manglerud.

The man is said to have told that he had killed his wife, and that she was now lying dead in their common home.

The police moved with large forces to the apartment complex at Manglerud, where they found 35-year-old Rabeel Arshad died in the apartment with extensive injuries.

The couple’s two minor children were not present in the apartment when the mother was killed.

The family has been notified of the publication of the name, police attorney Iselinn Håvarstein informs VG.

– The accused is still imprisoned, and we are beginning to form a picture of what has happened, she says, but does not want to go into details.

VG has tried to get in touch with development assistance lawyer Heidi Juritzen and defense attorney Aase Karine Sigmond, but they have so far not responded to our inquiries.

Dagbladet discussed the identification of the woman first.

The father of the murder victim killed in 2013

This is not the first time the family has been hit by a deep crisis.

Nine years ago, the father of the murdered woman, Mohammad Arshad, was brutally killed outside the same apartment block as her daughter.

It was the night of September 28, 2013 that the father was found lifeless outside the block, after being beaten up by masked men with, among other things, a wrench and an ax handle. He died the same night from extensive head injuries.

The 52-year-old father of four owned and operated the Waldemars restaurant on St. Hanshaugen in Oslo.

Four men were later convicted in the case.

Three of them, who were directly involved in the assault, were sentenced to 14, 11 and 10 years and six months in prison, respectively. The fourth man was sentenced to six years in prison for, among other things, being involved in the planning and for waiting in the car while the violence took place.

RUN A RESTAURANT: The father of the family ran Waldemars Café in Oslo until he was killed. After the murder, people laid flowers and greetings outside the cafe.

The killers were sentenced to pay a total of one million kroner in reparations to five family members, including the now-killed daughter.

The police investigated the case as a gang crime.

Reported domestic violence

Back in 2011, the now killed woman reported her husband for domestic violence, but the case was then dropped.

The police have not wanted to answer whether the man is known to them for other matters than this review.

The husband accused of murder has been in custody since he was arrested.

VG has previously written that the man is being questioned has claimed that he acted in self-defense.

– He has explained himself and answered the questions that the police had. My client admits to having caused his wife’s death, but he has not made an unreserved confession, the husband’s defender, Aase Karine Sigmond, has previously stated.
