During the debate, the prosecutor asked the accused to be found guilty of complicity in the murder of Voronenkov and sentenced them to 12 years behind bars.
Also, the prosecution wants to punish one of the defendants in the case for illegal possession of weapons, assigning him 3 years behind bars.
At the next session, the court will hear the defense.
Voronenkov was killed on March 23, 2017 in the center of Kiev. The attacker was wounded by the ex-deputy’s bodyguard and died in the hospital. In the summer of 2017, law enforcement officers detained two suspects – a man who was tracking the Russian, and also the driver who was taking the killer to the scene of the murder.
